Page one center on this mornings NYTimes; New Microsoft Browser Raises Google's Hackles

This is quite an achievement for Google PR and I wonder how they do it. It must be Google's good old boy network, AOL, Sun and Firefox.

This mornings NYTimes failed to mention that when you go to download Java for FREE and everybody on the internet today needs Java, by default you get for FREE the Google Toolbar. Can I get MSN Search on the Google Toolbar if I want it?

Do you want to download Macromedia's Flash for FREE  everybody on the internet today needs Flash, By default you get the Yahoo Toolbar for FREE, but can I get MSN search on the Yahoo Toolbar?

Google paid a billion dollars for top spot on AOL's Search bar, why? Who uses AOL in 2006?

FireFox earns hundreds of millions of dollars via Gooooooooogle ads as do thousands of bloggers, what do you think is their default search?

I use all the search engines and I compare and contrast the results as I look for the best results.

Don't forget the Google desktop is installed by default on new dell's. another piece of crapware that needs to be removed before actually using the new PC

I take it Google legal dept never read the reasons why there is only search provider by default.

You gotta love this, most companies use litigation to get around Microsoft and get to the top (while making 500m in the process), Google is going to use litigation to make sure they stay at the top.

He just knows how to market his threads better than you do... Thus why his one even though posted three hours later has masses of replies.

Eagle if you need some help resetting MSN as your default search provider than I suggest you renew your Dell support contract... Or go post in techoff.

Wow what a rude response Manip.... Think about how many different browsers set Google as the default search provider, Firefox, Opera, Konqueror, Safari, now one IE7 sets it default search to itself and allows you to change it and its a problem? Seriously think about how silly that sounds. Company A gets kick backs for setting its default search provider to company B, Company B compalins when it can't get Company C who has a bigger market share to set its default search to company B. Are you going to talk your ball and go home now?

MSN remains my defalt search in IE.

Did you know that you only have to type my name in the IE address bar to go to my blog?

No WWW or long URL required, how cool is that!

That only works if you've been to your site recently. Either that or you have the "Auto-Find" thingy on that tries every domain combination (.com, .net, .org et al). I don't like it, I'd prefer my mistyped names to fail rather than a best guess that could take you anywhere.

I realized that you didn't see it, but the usual suspects did indeed know that it was there.......banished to page 3….
Usual suspects? Who might those people be? I only noticed your thread today. Thanks for bringing it back to page one.

Cheers.
