It would be EXTREMELY nice to be able to choose where the Users folder will be during the install. Perhaps it's not too late for Windows 7 to implement this.

During install you can not choose it. You can move it aftet the installation as the first think you do. Richt click on the "My documents" select properties and then select the tab "Location"

The User folder (containing documents , pictures , downloads) can not be moved in a whole (i think).

But yeah, it would be nice to choose this in the custom installation mode...

I do this for all my folders.

Right click on the folder in question, go to properties, then select location. Change the path.

In addition, one could add another folder to their "library" and set that as the default folder in that library.

Sadly both solutions do not always work too well. Some applications default to a save/open dialogue of C:\Users\<Username>. I find it annoying to browse to the correct folder. I am not sure how this can be fixed, but I suggest a few devs change their location and use their computers for a few months. They will see some of the shortcomings of the current solution and think of a creative way to fix it Wink
