I'm currently using Frontpage 2003. I have my html file along with my css data and photos on my desktop. The problem is when I go to upload to my server via FTP it only wants to upload the HTML, CSS data. So when I view the site it has nothing but text. So my question can I add local files from my desktop and associate with that page?

Does that make sense?
Thanks.

I'm uploading via frontpage. using an FTP client won't work.

By associating from the desktop I mean uploading them then associating.

Just another question off-topic I'm working and don't want to restart and I get this annoying pop-up every few minutes:

Anyone know how to turn this off? it's really pissing me off.

ive never used ftp in fp - my host allows me to go in and add "fp extentions" to sites i register.  so i publish - and it always works..

..well..it depends on the host.

they sort of either support fp or not

if they do - just try publishing

if they dont.... call them and complain Wink

Every few minutes is a bit of an exaggeration, however, it defaults to every 10 minutes

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\windows\Windows Update

Create a DWORD key called RebootRelaunchTimeout, where the value is the time between reminders in minutes (maximum of 1440) and then always create a DWORD key called RebootRelaunchTimeoutEnabled and set it to 1

If FrontPage is anything like I remember it being back in 98....RUN! Get the hell away from that application Smiley

No offense to Microsoft, but that just wasn't their niche back in 98.

FP has come a long way since you last used it. It's a good-enough program for first-time web designers.

Matt, how exactly are you publishing your site? Have you tried the "Publish Selected Files" option?

(From the MS Office Assistance site)

Check that your photos actually show up in the web structure in FrontPage. You mention that the files are on your desktop. Generally, FrontPage is a happier program if you use a Web (A folder that FrontPage sees as your site). This means that all your website files, and only your website files are contained in one location.

To convert your current site into a Web click the down arrow by the New Document button on the toolbar, and click Web Site...
Choose Empty Web from the list of templates. Be sure to give your site a folder name, and click OK. Copy all your html/css/picture files into the newly created web. Make sure everything still looks and works the way it should, then try the upload again.

You can also use group policy to configure this. As an administrator, run "gpedit.msc", go to "Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Update" and configure the "Re-prompt for restart with scheduled installations" setting.

me too.  woke up to a log on prompt - all my apps closed.

i mainly dont like the computer deciding when to reboot - and not its owner.  put a red shield on the taskbar - fine.  make it not go away till you reboot - but please do not reboot my machines at night.

..it starts with rebooting - who nos what else could be next
we should be the ones controling the machines - not the other way around

Then turn off scheduled installation of updates. It's not hard you know. Just set AU to "download and ask to install".
thanks - done
(never saw that)

You can refer to the following KB:

Frontpage is a piece of garbage.  I'm currently using Frontpage 2003 for a charity site that I'm working (and only then because it is the software the organization bought before they brought me on board) and if your hosting provider doesn't have Frontpage extensions, then I wouldn't waste my time.

A little harsh my friend, Frontpage serves a purpose, it may not be that easy to spit out the purest CSS rich pages, but for a quick and easy WYSIWYG editor it does what it says on the box.

Personally I would rather hand crank HTML and CSS, but that takes considerably longer and some sites you just want to get done and over very quickly.  (Especially when you are on fixed-price!)
