Hi people I know this is a strange request but i have a client needs to recover and old dos database but his MS DOS 6.22 installation disks are screwed.

Anyone know where i can buy MS DOS 6.22 installation disks.

Tryed the recovery on the free DrDOS and FreeDOS but it fails but the database was running on MS DOS 6.22 so its my last chance. Perplexed

Thanks

You will never know success until you know failure
Look at eBay or find an old computer store in your area and see if you can get a copy

He's got an "email me" link

You download this for free from Microsoft's site.

EDIT:  I know I've seen it there before I just can't find it - not even using google.

I know what you're talking about, but those 3 files are just DOS6->DOS6.22 upgrade files and cannot be used to create boot disk.

vi all the way!
If you have access to a MSDOS 6.22 PC, you should be able to mak the requisite boot floppy with something like

format a: /s

if memory serves

www.ultimatebootcd.com may also be of some use
MSDN has MSDOS6.22 and previous versions.

Has Microsoft officially released MS-DOS free to the public?

Or is it still considered pirating if you downloaded it off the internet?

It's not been released for free to my knowledge.

Technically it's even still sold (as part of an MSDN subscription).

No.

Because

a) You didn't read the thread
b) The software isn't ours to distribute.

1) 21st Century???

Wasn't 6.22 the DOS bundled with Windows 3.1?

2) It took me 10 seconds to find a tracker with a MSDOS 6.22 torrent on Google. If your really that desperate there are ways, even if they arent legal.

Hopefully you wont try to install it because suddenly your 100+ GB HDD is now a 2 GB drive under the Fat 16 filesystem.

How did we used to live with drives that small?

We didn't used to have graphics higher than 256 colors back then... Tongue Out

My 286-AT only have monochrome display card inside.

I think it's fair to say most of the "giant size" packages we see today are filled with graphic related things.

Things would be significantly smaller if all you have is text-built screen and menus. Tongue Out

as long as I remember only win95/98/ME came with DOS (DOS7). with previous versions you had to buy it separately

Windows 98 was the last to use dos 7, Windows Mellenium Edition used Microsoft DOS 8 (Only came bundled in windows setup)
