My laptop does have an option for wireless wake on lan in the device manager. I have never tested it and its defaulted to off.

Hmm, it would have to trickle power the WLAN card. Intel have WoWLAN in the Centrino chipset.

Interesting that you can wake from S4 (Hibernate in Windows' terms).  Doesn't that defeat the point of S4 (that power is completely turned off and batteries can be removed)?
