Doh. I just had to rebuild my machine and I only just reinstalled beta3.

When I went to download it I got a "This download is no longer available" message a couple of times, so I thought something must be up and I checked the IE Blog.
It didn't have anything new, so I refreshed a couple of times and managed to get beta3 to download.

It must have still been propagating through the server farm. Perplexed

Bruce, I believe Jamie may have been being sarcastic Smiley
while it does indeed take only seconds to be accused of being a criminal (twice) I still think Windows should stop the "Validate" after you do it once - for any piece of additional addon software by ms.

back to IE - loaded fine (2 reboots) but it turned off the quick links bar on the taskbar.  No biggie - turn it back on - the order is all over ... & certain icons are duplicated (3 Ie's(one from last time i guess) 2 my computers )

*goes to wordpress to check if all the errors are still there....

THANKYOU BRUCE AND IE TEAM  -  all the yellow bars on Wordpress are now gone. All the paste image errors and the New themes errors are gone!

It only leave one pop up about "both secure and non-secure items" which Im sure is fine. (perfect world add check box "always allow for this site"

no more firefox for wordpress.  thanks again Smiley [y]

Was native support for XMLHTTP (i.e. without an ActiveX control) there in Beta 3 and earlier?

To avoid the mixed content warning, I believe you can add a site to Trusted Sites, then change the "mixed content" security setting from Prompt to Enable.

Goldbar? Wasn't that the "Information Bar"?

wow, this build is so nice. the speed of loading pages and starting up is great.

"Information Bar" is the official name. Internally we often refer to it as the "gold bar". Saving a few syllables Smiley

Hmmm

Biscuity goodness.

Just downloaded and installed it.

Its nice to see that the deleting favorites ui-lockup bug has been fixed in this build Smiley

My only complaint so far, is that you still cannot remove everything from the command bar and not have the command bar reset next time you open up IE7. I still have to have a sacrifical extra seperator bar in there to prevent that.

i remember some time ago there was a channel 9 video where someone said they were doing tests where the input file was changed bit by bit, currupting the data, trying to cause an error or crash or somehting within the application.  is this something the IE team also did?
Cool, got it installed before the rush Smiley

A slight issue though - when I click on the New Tab button a get a ~.8 second pause with the tab title saying Connecting .... and then the tab finally being shown when the page has loaded. I was just unsure of the 1 second pause to load about:blank it almost seems deliberate but it really makes the browsing feel slow.

Edit: scrolling is also *extremely* jerky when zoomed in to 200% - I have 2 processors, I don't mind if you occassionally use them both Smiley

Edit 2: Ctrl and scroll wheel now zooms instead of changing the text size Sad I guess I'll get used to it though ..

Did you encounter a problem with the online validation?  It took less than 2 seconds for the "Validate" button to turn into a "Download" button for me.

Because IE7 distributes beyond just the validating download page, the installer itself checks.  That takes less than 10 seconds or so on most systems.

Doing a WGA check on browser startup would have a large impact on startup performance and a giant server load.  Not a good idea, for those reasons and many others.

Cool will get the RC soon....

BTW:  I think the deal is that -- MOST OF US HATE THE VALIDATION!

ok I know we don't want to "give away" stuff; but it's darn frustrating... for example my network has a fixed IP and a domain name on it....
what about having the server use that to say:  Ok we know that domain and IP as a valid user, let them pass?

granted that will not work for random users in dhcp but it could work for many cases where you can track back a domain owner / network owner.

after all in the end if a pirate is inside a firewall at a corp / domain
then I'd think MSFT would want to tell the domain owners about the problem or seek legal action to investigate same.

for legit cases this might reduce the checks to a very low number.
let users feel that "MSFT knows me and trusts me"

not perfect but the start of an idea for a possible balance between
so many tests and the need to slow down pirates.

Refrax,
I think you are referring to what is known as Fuzz testing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuzzing
Yes the IE team does this a lot.

Thanks

Isn't a misnomer since the bar should be using the "Tooltip" system color, which isn't necessarily that golden/yellow shade?

You mean fuzz testing? I think they were talking about that during the Vista imaging (pictures, not drives) video. I dunno about the IE team, though I'd imagine they've done something along those lines.

EDIT: Got beaten to it--and by a much more credible source. Tongue Out

I don't notice any particular jerkiness here on Beta 3 (as I post with IE zoomed to 200%).  I'll tell you if there's any difference once I get RC1 installed and running.  (if the download servers ever come back up)
