He Guys,

I am coding Technitium MAC Address Changer (TMAC) v4 and I just wanted to get a feedback from guys who are running Vista. Can anyone test the previous version TMAC v3.1 on Vista and give a feedback so that the new version will run on Vista without any bug ? Download link is available at http://tmac.technitium.com

Thanks in advance,

Shreyas Zare
*testing*

OK. It's old Visual Basic and it tries to override a file in the System32 directory. I don't like that. Vista doesn't like that too. Well the message box says that the current file is newer then the one that is copied. Should be fine to say no!

The program crashes with the error that is found here.

My suggestions: Switch to whole app to .NET (is installed in Vista), fix the bugs and add an uninstaller to the start menu entry... Smiley

I would have though that accessing/changing that part of the registry would trigger UAC anyway.

I have UAC enabled and the thing does only crash. I don't get anything else then the message box displayed in the link. This is happening immediately after the load of the app, which makes it quite impossible to understand (at least for me) what is going on internally.

Maybe it's trying to iterate the adapters and failing because it's not taking UAC into account.

That could be... It's returning an out of range error. Strange that I get an out of range error. We should wait for shreyasonline. Since he is the dev, he does probably know what is going on in the code.

I'm only the testing dude Smiley
No problem, was a pleasure.

You should try to switch to .NET. It's easier and more elegant to write code in .NET then in old VB6 (from an OOP standpoint). It's also easier to access the registry *old VB guy speaking here*

Ya I know .NET is more powerfull. For that I need to have a good machine as my laptop is not always with me and what I have now is a 400MHz machine which would die if I install .NET on it. Its just a matter of couple of months between me and a Core 2 Duo

Great! I bought my notebook a year ago and I still get a 4.0 in Vista. CPU is the slowest part of it... Tell me once you have your .NET app of MAC changer ready. I'll test that for you, dude.
Can I be explained which OperatingSystems that TMAC runs on.  I am looking for a fast, quick, way to change MAC address in various computers.  Would TMAC be a better solution than a hardware solution, such as http://www.sdadapters.com

If you have thoughts comments, please reply to me.
