Why is IE7 not supported in Windows 98 SE? But FireFox runs smoothly in Win98 SE. What do the 30% of windows users out there do?

You've always have people using the old stuff. Like my grand
mother, still using her washing machine of the year 1900 and
complaining that she cant get it all clean with her new washing
product. (fiction Smiley)

I don't know what they do, but for sure they do not run Windows 98SE.

littleguru,

I checked Konqueror and you are correct. Firefox isn't formating the line breaks correctly.

I'll see it FF 2.0 fixes some of these Gecko rendering bugs.

She should upgrade to this:

Far more practical design than using a washboard.

You will never know success until you know failure
I have been testing Firefox 2.0 betas and the IE7 betas and now the final release of IE7.  I personally think the interface to Firefox 2 is more pleasing but IE7 has improved a great deal, I find it faster and rendering tabs is faster than what was possible with MSN Toolbar or Yahoo Toolbar which added tabs.

Another thing I want to say is that I have read on OSNews and even here where everyone says that the IE7 interface doesnt match the Windows XP interface, well Firefox 2.0 default Icon theme doesnt go well with some distros of Linux or on Windows 2000.  Someone here said it before but I will say it again.  I think Firefox 2.0 will be a big hit on Windows 2000 since Microsoft wants to force upgrades and will be a big hit on Linux and Mac OS X since Microsoft doesnt want to port Windows Internet Explorer to those platforms, where IE7 will be popular on XP and Windows Vista.  I cant wait for the new Netscape which will be based on FF 2.0

I think this is sooooooo very funny.  IE7 has not and will never get Microsofts browser position back.  No one trusts or uses IE7 because of Microsofts reputation.  Linux and Mac OS X will destroy Windows marketshare like Firefox has destroyed the IE7 browser marketshare.  Microsoft needs to start putting out some Linux apps.  The sinking ship known as Windows is going down fast.  Vista will not be able to save Microsoft reputation either.  Its ruined.  Microsoft is the top untrusted brand in the world Im willing to bet.

No dillusion here, just several Microsoft fan boys who cant stand the truth.  Enjoy cleaning off your next virus, while I am virus free.
haha true...  as much as i get mad... im not actually "mad" (read bonkers - although that's up for debate...)

ie7 will go out as planned ui and all.  they will fix what is mandated by us (users)

it is a land grab of sorts.. a lock down.. a TEST. and desperate one at that.

where is the internet platform and tools division when you need them? innovation!  WINS!  not forced anything!

Doesn't IE still have more than four times as many users as Firefox?  Despite being available on only one of the OS's that Firefox is available on?

C'mon, all you Firefox users, say it with me!  "We're #2!  We're #2!"

*hope i never need to rethink the above...

IE7's only real competition is IE6.

Yeah, because the winner is Firefox 2.0.
