Considering the lack of good CMS/Forums systems for Asp.net, would you ever consider opening the hood of your codebase, Jeff, Adam?

You wouldn't have to worry about support; just throw up the source and the SQL db scheme in a zip.... I am sure we all can figure out some wiki support for you Wink

Come on.... open the code Big Smile

Wasn't Channel 9 originally based on Community Server?  Why not check them out?

Any particular reason why you aren't a big fan of DotNetNuke?

I concurr. It would boost Microsoft to release EvNet, even without any kind of support, just a "caveat emptor" disclaimer would be fine.

We agree it could be an awesome thing to ship the source for EvNet.   Right now though we just can't commit to it.

We are currently commited to the following:

1. Shipping awesome code that delivers a great experince for 9/10
2. Tightening up our Web API so you can built your own experiences

Once we get past that we can look at opening it up.  We definitely are building it all with opening it up in mind, just can't commit to it yet.

Any closer to this being a reality? I just watched the Meet the EvNet Dev Team video and would really like to see the nuts & bolts behind the platform (particularly of entries and tags). It fits in with enhancements I would like to make to my application and I was really impressed with what the guys have done!

I know that releasing code isn't your focus but it would make you guys real legends in my book (and I'm sure others) and what better way to evangelise!

If this really wasn't possible (please let it be Expressionless) then maybe one of you could post a series on your personal blog as to how it is done (with schema snapshots, code samples etc). In the vein of a ScottGu technical post.

I wait with anticipation and baited breath! Tongue Out
