I like WMP11 far better than previous versions.  It finally got me to use WMP as my main player because of its much more useful interface.  I used to always like Winamp, but just never liked opening more than one window to do everything I want.  With WMP 11 its all in one place.

It didn't really take that long to get used to it and if you don't like seeing the Album pictures change the view.  Sure it would be nice if the right click worked for that, but the icon to do it isn't all that far away.

And for those complaining about the skin, its far more useful and nicer to use than the old ones.  And if you don't like it, then use another one as it still supports changing the skin like previous versions.

I do wish some of the better features were available in the web window versions.  Well I mean you can't adjust things like equalizer and cross-fade from that window.  I have an IRC program that can play mp3's and uses the web interface of WMP but there is no connection between it and WMP itself.  If I hit stop on WMP, it doesn't stop the playing if the web interface is playing.  Don't know if I explained that, but there should be a connection (could be perhaps poor coding in the IRC plug-in I suppose).

Anyway WMP11 is a real winner in my book.  Its my main player now.

Today I had a "media player off" with a co worker.  I was using the latest itunes and he was using WMP11. By the end of the day I was ready to admit that WMP11 was superior until I pulled out the "format card". Turns out that WMP11 can not play a mp4 by default.  Why does WMP11 not play these by default? It's not a big deal to download a codec but there would be much more converts from the iTunes world if it did.

I think the best feature over itunes is the ability to get info about your tracks. The copy and paste album art is nice as well as finding the info about an untitled track and then finding all of the related "untitleds". I read that the synchronization with external drives is very good but I will have to wait and see.

I have never been a WMP fan at all but the latest release looks really good. It is finally catching up to itunes.
Hey folks,

My first post here and it's a bit of a rant on a old thread...

WMP 11 arrives and all that gets mentioned is the GUI???

It's got no new features over WMP10 to call anything.
It still can't do the most basic things I would expect from a media player.

Where is:

Aspect ratio adjustment?
Audio stream selection?
DirectX Codec managerment?
The equivalent of WMPTSE?
Hardware DD5.1 decoder support?
VOB support?
RIFF tags in AVIs?
Replaygain?
Winamp like Smart Views
Tree view of Genre, Actors, etc in the Navigation Pane to allow drag and drop tagging?

Compared to the sheer range of functionality that Winamp has, WMP11 isn't even in the race.
The only thing WMP wins on IS the GUI as Winamp's multiple windows are a pain.
