Iran Goes Nuclear

My, that was fast. I wonder if they had any help? Then again, he could be full of bull...

Yet Another Threat

Can't we all just get along and write software in peace?

As much as I wish we could... in order to make that possible we first need to send in a small wave of aircraft in and blow the hell out of his surface nuclear facilities as well as the underground (under construction) ones that’ll be nearly impenetrable from the air once complete.
I think problems started to arise when the U.S. took on it's policy of no assainations. Really.

If you pop off all the a$$holes, then somone more conservative usually takes their job.

We tried that, remember the Cold War? We installed how many dictators around the world who murdered how many millions?

Just leave everyone alone. If they want nukes, let them have it. Why pick fights with others?

Secondly, Iran had weapons since Pakistan had them. They are truthful when they say the program is for energy.

Yeah, but how many countries explicitly threaten others with annihilation on a daily basis? And openly welcome Armageddon? Even Pakistan isn't doing that. Besides, what on earth would they need a nuke plant for? They sit on one of the biggest natural gas fields in the world, have an adequate supply of oil, etc.

Because in about 80-120 years it'll run out and then they'll be wishing they started on their civilian energy program years earlier... of course, if they were to come out and say that we might just buy it for a second... but no, like you said, Iran has made very clear its intentions... of wiping Israel off the map just as soon as they have the means.

I don't think they have the technology to exploit either their natural gas or oil reserves.

Their oil requires techniques only available from Western nations, who are not happy with Iran at the moment -- or for the past 30 years for that matter.

Perhaps this is a strategy their nutty President has learned from N. Korea -- say you have a nuke and get the U.S. into direct talks (which means money for nothing, doesn't it)?

Is their claim only for nuclear energy technology or not?
Ahmadinejad was also reported to have announced that "Iranian young scientists reached the zenith of science and technology and gained access to the nuclear fuel cycle without the help of big powers." (emphasis added)

Does anyone else find this statement amusing considering we reached this zenith over 60 years ago?

a) Like everyone else has said, their leader has stated his intentions to use their nuclear weapons against Isreal as soon as possible.

b) You don't need enriched nuclear material to run a nuclear power plant. The only possible purpose for it is for creating nuclear weapons.

a) Lots of people/countries say that, but its for local political consumption. Nukes are for deterance and defense, not offensive weapons

b)You need enriched nuclear material to reduce waste.

Eitherway, they already have nukes. Also N Korea. Now its time to restore the 2 state solution, Palestine & Israel as outlined by UN resolutions in the 60s. And live and let live.

An attack on Iran will just make the situation worse, because oil prices will become $300 - $500 a barriel, and mostly all oil shipment from the Arabian Gulf, will stop. There would be a Shia uprising in Iraq, and Armagadon will come about.

So its time the US minds its own business, enough people died already.

Iran, Saudi Arabia (Gulf states) , Egypt, Jordan,Syria, will all have nuclear energy, and they have every right to own it and maintain it. No one should have a say in what they should or should not have, because that is these countries internal business and no one else's.

So what if US reached it 60 years ago? What is the point?

Secondly, they reached it, and it showed they developed and managed to make their own technology and under sanctions. US did not have sanctions to stop its development. So no basis for comparison here really, when you come to think of it.

They do have the technology to extract oil and gas. How do you think they managed with sanctions imposed??

They even managed to make a factory for airplanes and other stuff.
