And so the world ends. Not with a bang, but with a whimper.
Any opinions on whether he's doing a good job?

I know it's not the right thing to call him, but you get the idea. He's sort of the new "front-man" of Channel 9.

Personally I miss Scoble, I think he had a nice normal geek thing going. I could identify with him more, seems more like a "proper" geek in my eyes. Sort of like a normal person coming to this behemot of a company and asking people what's new.

That being said I really love Rory's interviews. He's sort of a geek many aspires to be, in the professional sense as well as other ways (yes, I am a little jealous of his boyish good looks Tongue Out ). The interview with the driver-guy was pure gold, that's the kind of stuff I really want to see. In a way it feels more natural when the focus isn't so much on the technology and more on the people behind the technology and their experiences in the field.

Anyways, keep the great interviews coming, I really like them. Smiley

Code to live, but Live to code.
I think Charles is the Scoble successor. Most of Charles interviews are right on the money in the same way that Scoble's was.

Rory's are okay too, they complement Charles and so both seem to work okay.

But for some reason, Channel9 has been dormant for some time. Its not like it was when Scoble was here.  You hardly find new things in a timely way, unlike before.

I guess Scoble had a sense of what developers want and was natural at it and had inner geeky like love of technology which was the driving force behind his energy. This is shared by Charles and Rory to some degree but not same level.

But then again maybe its not really C9's fault. Maybe the teams in MS dont have anything new yet, and are working on new stuff. I note that a number of them have also stopped blogging for a while.

I think there needs to be a revolution in C9 to make things more interesting.

My propensity for the absurd forces me to choose Rory.

My allegiance to the Truth and Honorable Self-Castigation demands that I choose Rory.

Creativity considerations compels me to choose Rory.

My disdain for personal blogs is probably a factor too; I prefer live entertainment - excessive stimulation - that's my bag.

I can much more readily identify with Rory. That's obvious.

Rory is much more stimulating for me. Nothing against R. Scoble...

(pssst... Scoble is thinner than he appears in photos).

Welcome Change

Rory is Rory. Scoble is Scoble. You are you. I am me. Why compare apples and oranges?

That said, both Rory and Scoble are very gregarious. While Rory is a tad more complicated than Scoble, both do a great job interviewing humans and neither lack in personality, passion, and character.

Rory is not a replacement for Scoble. He's an addition to Channel 9. And a very welcomed one at that. We're lucky to have him on board Flight 9.

Sorry about the slow down in content, but we hope the quality of our releases outshines the quantity of video posts. Rory's done a great job of hitting the ground running, creating awesome content. Me, I'm a tad burned out and in need of recharging (which I am currently doing).

Here's to a fruitful 2007,

Regarding the perceived slowdown... it's the holiday season, the bulk of Microsoft just shipped (Vista, Office, Exchange) and we're working on the next big things Smiley
