Hi Niners,

I am looking to find a website written by a colleague, but he has not advertised it on Google or any other search engines.

All I know is that it is hosted from FASTHOSTS.CO.UK and it is written using ASP.NET.

Is there any way onyone knows of how I can find all of the sites hosted by a particular ISP (In this case FASTHOSTS) ?  Once I have this information, I should be able to find it as I think it will be based on his name.

I have tried asking him, but he wont tell me the address Sad

Any help would be gratefully received

many thanks

Mike
This sounds slightly suspicious.
Do you know which of the interwebs his server is on?

Hi Tangent,

Nothing suspicious I promise.  A Work colleague is job hunting and told me us had made up a website to sell himself.  then promptly also told us he had videos of him talking about UML, ASP.NET and other stuff so he could point potential employers at it.  I asked him where it was so we could go and have a laugh and he would not tell us.

I gleemed out fromhim his host and the technology he was using and that was it.  I have googles for his name in various forms and checked sites in 123-reg for domains relating to his name to no avail.

Just though if I could get list of their sites, I may be able to find him (and laugh!!).

Try looking his name up in the whois records.

EDIT: looks like you already did, my bad.

Edit:  Duplicate post, slow link.  My bad

No, because that would be a gross invasion of privacy, an abuse of trust and confidentiality, and probably illegal under the Data Protection Act (Fasthosts is a UK company and subject to the DPA)

It's analogous to asking the owner of a condo-block the names of all their residents.
Maybe if he didn't tell you what the URL is you shouldn't find it. I know from personal experience that if you do this sort of thing you aren't exactly likely to make many friends. (I'm not saying that if you found it you have done anything wrong really, as he would have secured it if he was really bothered about people seeing the content, but he may not like you as much after you spend time finding it just to laugh at it).

I would like to echo W3bbo; why would a company do this? It is a bad business practice; I wouldn't use a host who gave out my information freely. Tongue Out

The simplest explanation is that there is no site and that he was basically talking out his arse.

OK, thanks for all your help guys, guess I'll just have to leave my mate alone and not laugh at him [C]
