For all those that will ever need the Vista 32bit drivers in order to get the Conexant AC97 20468-31 audio device working on Vista just download these drivers, extract them and then force the install from the device manager:
ftp://ftp.gateway.com/pub/hardware_support/drivers/win_vista/audio/VIPVAUDIO.exe

Even if nobody cares I just posted this here so that the people on the "Vista Driver Quest v6.00.18386" for the Conexant drivers will see this page on the google results without having to waste hours to search for the right name of the driver (this hardware is not even listed on PCI devices databases) Wink

What a noble intent, isn't it?

This nobility, I assume, includes you having put in an update to pcidatabase.com, yes ?  Smiley


eg Do a vendor search, then click it's link, which takes you to a full list of their devices, and there's an add link at the top.

The problem is who is the real vendor. This soundcard is made by conexant but it's integrated in the ATI s400 southbridge however the vendor ID is intel. What a mess.

somebody already added the wrong entry (Sigmatel) (this stupid soundcard is just like those nasty winmodems) and I couldn't fix it.
