I am running the Windows Vista Ultimate that came with my MSDN subscription.
Since today in the lower right corner of my screen I have a "Windows Vista (TM) Build 6000 This copy of Windows is not genuine" text.
Vista is not running in reduced functionality mode and the genuine software check available on MS.COM says everything is okay.
Also Windows Updates do work fine.
Any help on why the annoying message is there and how I can potentially get rid of it?

Run this: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=56062 (mgadiag.exe) and see if it shows your system as genuine. If it does, I'd reccommend you submit a technical support request as described here: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/servicerequest.aspx?displaylang=en

Ran the utility. Said everything is genuine. Restarted Vista. The error is gone... Strange...

I've had the same thing happen with XP. Appently, if you lose your Internet connection -- even if it's only a couple of minutes but it just happens to be right at the same time that the WGA spyware decides to phone home -- it will report you as Non-Genuine.

I wonder if something funky happened, I had the same issue with my Retail Vista copy.
WGA is necessary, but so damn annoying. I do not know what the solution is, but WGA at its current state is not the answer. -
Clearly... Never trust a University.mattcantu said:

I don't know, but is your Vista key VLK version (i.e. requires activation server) or MAK version?mattcantu said:Diagnostic Report (1.7.0110.1):

Perhaps you should post to the WGA forum and let them take a look to the log. Remember to remove important key information before you post it. -
As I told the previous poster, submit a technical support request here if you're having problems with WGA: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/servicerequest.aspx?displaylang=en.mattcantu said:Diagnostic Report (1.7.0110.1):

Where did you buy your Vista license?

I just came across the same problem, the resolution (Mar 26, 2007 @ 2:37) worked for me as well.
Specifics (for the record)...
MSDN Vista (VLK) fully service packed w/ all updates
This is a Development Virtual Machine for our Installation Package Testing...
...as such it is regularly turned off w/ Discard Undo Disks.
Thank you for the information!
Best regards.
