Quite alot of views now, can't anyone help? And sorry for double posting.

Taking a guess there's not many people using telnet anymore, unless you're still into MUDD's or something

Or configuring your router (mine doesn't have everything that you can configure via telnet available via the web ui). Or debugging (what better way to check if your service is listening on a remote port than telnet)

Not exactly answering my question... Anyone got any idea?
-
Try using the Optional Component Setup utility instead of the GUI:
Open an elevated command prompt.
To install the Telnet Client, type:
ocsetup TelnetClient
If you also want the server, type:
ocsetup TelnetServer
To uninstall, type either of the above plus /uninstall
If this doesn't work, it may also be useful to check your event logs with Event Viewer to see if it gives more error details. -
I opend commad prompt and typed that in but it didn't work.
Edit: Wait, a few minutes later and a message pops up saying the optional componant setup encountered a fatal error.

does anything show in the event log?
-
I dont think anything in the Event Viewer is showing up.

Anyonelse got any ideas?

Which Vista edition do you have?
-
Actually, I've completely replaced my usage of "telnet" with "putty". (Not only in Vista, also in WinXP)
If you're not doing any piping from batch files, you may want to switch to that. -
Does the stuff used with telnet work with putty? like FFMUX http://ffmux.play-hookey.com/( That's the main thing i want to get to work). And if so can you show me how to install it and give me links to the downloads? Thanks.

Vista Ultimate 32 Bit Version.

Here you go.
No install necessary. Just download the exe file and run it. -
Thanks alot! But does it work with stuff you need Telnet for?
-
Working great thanks!
