Hello Folks

I know, I am not much active on Channel9 Forums, so I think I must start participating alot in these forums as they are great source of information to me.

So, the basic reason of writing this post is to know about others perspective about my idea of starting a new startup company, the country to which I belong usually doesn’t support this idea, here there are big (as far as Pakistan is considered) companies and usually CS graduates prefer to do Job rather than start implementing their ideas.

What do you think? Is it the right decision? As far as I think, I am pretty much satisfied with my decision to start my own company. Here I am working on all the cool stuff that I want to work (while generating revenues from Offshore Development). Learning and implementing all those new technologies in the market and then impressing the customer from our way of development and user experience. My company is still only 1 month old, but I think I gain much more knowledge, experience and user interaction as compared to my 8 month boring Job in one of the Pakistan Top Software House.

I think outsourcing development should be considered first, because IMHO it's much easier to start up with.

Before you start a company you need to have a business plan:
- Who are your customers?
- Which market is your target?
- What will you be doing?
- What makes your company different?
- Who will you compete against?

Another tip: start small, then grow. Like if you want to start a game company, don't think you will be able to create a next-gen game as the first product.

If Blackberrys are addictive cellphones, Channel9 is the ultimate addictive website.
I agree with Zippy... Start small and grow. Don't be too ambitious - you'll end up being over-run. And if you do make a game company and you do make an awesome game... remember your friends on C9 Wink

I suppose... Just start small and dont get too OTT - you'll get scope-eye. Keep it small - replicate a simple game and move on from there etc.

See now I'm interested. Games. MPORPG?

Just remember im 13 so I'm not too good with starting businesses Wink

I wont feed you cr*p though. Start small, get bigger. The only way to go - unless you win the lottery!
