Im in yr house upgrading yr family

Yes - before we start I understand that these were never really Tablet PCs - more a WiFi PDA optimised for browsing. This didnt seem that attractive when you could buy a low powered laptop for the same price.

In fact - I would hazard a guess that they didnt sell that many of them - because they seem to be selling them off at a massive discount now.

Now to me 75 quid for a little internet tablet seems pretty good. If only I could justify why I would need one around the house...

A reason to need this? Laziness? Surfing from your couch/toilet/kitchen/bathroom/bed?

to be honest, at the huge discount price point it would be quite a good buy, as i'm off touring the UK on my quest for a job, i could do with an internet device that fits in my pocket, if only there was more free wifi around.

If Blackberrys are addictive cellphones, Channel9 is the ultimate addictive website.

Simplification for consumerism rears its ugly head again.

No Lloyd, you just need a wireless access point.

I...hate...combo....devices.

A router is not a modem is not a wireless AP is not a switch is not a terminal adapter is not a NAS server is not a firewall is not a NAT.

I get the feeling that's partly because you're using hardware to sublimate something; after all who the heck using Exchange and full blown AD on their home network? Even I'm not that sad.

A social life, actually.

The size of my unmentionables makes it all the shame they're never going to get used.

Wow. That's a deal! Only 140 bucks. So these run off of WiFi and not a paid subscription like a telephone?

Not quite.

You still have to pay for Wifi. Per-byte it's cheaper than a dataplan for a cellphone, but per-minute it's like 10 times as expensive.

Airports hype their wifi connectivity services provided by the local telco concern, but charge $10 for 30 minutes (minimum purchase) at Amsterdam Schipol airport. I remember back in the day when they had dedicated Internet cafes with more reasonable (10c / minute) fees.
I don't know how you guys but i so hate Nokia's phones, they are so general, so bad design. Remainds me of windows, but that's another story. Wink

ok i just found out the Nokia N800 supports dual 8gb cards (SDHC) which is pretty freaking awesome.  i could easily use it as a 16gb music player while not browing for shizzle.

at £270 it's not that bad a deal and at $329 it's even better

battery life is horrible.
