Okay, after seeing the job thread (aka "Thanks Channel 9"), and seeing other posters that *appear* to be legit and relatively well known people, I'm wondering who, beyond the average developer, regularly reads Channel 9 posts? Or watches the videos? I came across James Gosling's blog the other day, and noticed a South Park version of himself...and it reminded of something Jamie might have done a while back. So it made me wonder...
Scott Hanselman posts as 'Glucose'.
Minh, I think you belong to what thumbtacks2 labels as 'average developers', just like me. We're not worthy of being mentioned.

You mean I'm being lumped together with 'average'?

Woohoo!  A promotion!

Thumbs -- why do you care who reads this, or was it just idle curiosity?

No, I said Minh was an average developer. You're a developer with a bucket on his head.

Idle curiousity, I think. I just thought it was kind of funny to see Gosling's blog with a cartoon version of himself (similar to what has been done here before). Maybe I was thinking of the job lead angle, too.

Not that I don't have enough to do already...

Plus, it's kind of fun to see who you could potentially influence.

I have a bigger than average ego. Does that still make me average?

Don’t forget that there are different levels of participation... for each of the regular posters in here there are plenty of rare posters... and for each of those even more (I’d expect) who just come by for a video from time to time.

Late last year I got an email from the CEO of a semi-local tech company, wanting to bring me in for an interview after only seeing a couple of pictures (1, 2) I’d taken in his town (and nothing else and even got a job offer out of the deal... something I was forced to turn down and am still kicking myself for). It turns out that while he was one of the only regular C9 watchers in the company, he’d frequently see a video that was interesting and... encourage some of his underlings to take a watch and see if they couldn’t apply some of what was discussed to their own products.

An entire palace devoted to corn.

Perplexed

Whenever I have my e-mail contact information available on here, all I get is spam.

Sad

I think I'm becoming the Charlie Brown of Channel 9.

Rats.
The thing is ... you only get to know people by their nickname and their avatar here, do you really know who they are or what they do for a living?

So, perhaps wise not to assume that all people on C9 are developers.

I think I'm the perfect example of this.

I'm an IT Pro, not too much into the coding world (I am warming up to it, but thats not why I come here). The main reason I come here is to see what the devs are up to...what kind of new technology is coming down the pipe so I can prep and such.

I have found most of the videos extremely interesting and have helped me have a competative edge when bidding against contracts and such.

Now lately there have been more videos/interviews on developer focused topics and honestly thats all fine and dandy since well...this is a developer forum. But I gather i'm not the only IT guy here looking at the new technology. Maybe have a channel just for IT guys? I know there is ALOT of work and effort put into getting a new channel up. Maybe there are some statistics on devs/IT guys?

Oh...and keep up the good work here!

+1 for more IT admin related videos.  I'm not a coder/developer at all, but I love hanging out in C9.  I watch less and less videos because they aren't geared towards me.  More IT Pro type of videos.  I do enjoy the Technet podcasts

Brian: You're ALL individuals!
The Crowd (in unison): Yes! We're all individuals!
Brian: You're all different!
The Crowd (in unison): Yes, we ARE all different!
Man in Crowd: I'm not...
The Crowd: Shhh!
Not sure it'll help with your curiosity "that" much, but the new version of Channel 9 supports trackbacks and pingbacks across the board, so anytime a reader blogs about a video, forum thread, sandbox item, etc it will show up so you can see that someone linked to it.

If you have trackbacks turned on, but a lot of blogs simply get too much spam that way. Of course subtext applies Aksimet over trackbacks. *grin*
Dammit! Minh stole my gag.

Im a security consultant working in the UK .. im just here to see how ill developing can make you .. ur all pretty sic ... in a good way  !
