We just had our garden nuked and restarted. It currently consists of a large area of fresh not yet fully grown grass, and a single survivng oak. I think they are safe from slugs.

Also, I dont eat lettuce so I'm safe there. but wont somebody think of the bunnies?

Bunnies shouldn't be given lettuce, it's bad for them and makes them sleepy (which is why Peter Rabbit felt sleepy in Mr McGregor's garden).
