Yeah, just heard. A pity that Ferrari's title will always be connected to the fact that McLaren was penalized and not to the fact that McLaren took advantage of their actions...

What they dont tell you is that all the other teams do the same thing.  They were just stupid to admit that they did.

That fine though. $100m is bad enough but there's the possibility it could double with sponsorship deals and the loss of most of the TV monies next year (where you finish in the championship denotes how much of the TV royalties you get the following season)

I just get the feeling something is going on in the background here. The witch hunt feelings of Frank Willams and Jackie Stewart may be quite true.

They were also caught with their hands in the cookie jar...

There's no possibility. They got no points so they lose $80Mil (20% of the overall TV rights for next season). So the damage is already $180Mil.

What is annoying is that the drivers were totally aware of what was going on (and that's why they got out "clean", by ratting out the team execs) and yet it will probably be a McLaren driver to win the championship. No fair at all.

I didn't hear anything about that (US coverage of F1 is less than pityful). What's the issue?

My understanding is that anything they lose from this year's tv monies will come out of the fine, so that their total penalty for this year will be a max of $100m, rather than $100m plus lost revenue etc.

I thought that they only lost their constructor's title points?

Yeah, that was clarified today. They reckon it'll only leave them $30m out of pocket.

The Frank Williams / Jackie Stewart things I mentioned previously were on an interview somewhere. Can't remember whether it was on UK TV or Planet-F1 website.

Just been reading the FIA report about their decision. The Alonso de la Rosa email snippets are quite condeming. The question now is just how many people outside the three (Coughlan, Alonso and de la Rosa) really knew about the data?

Also, after this coming out, will Alonso and de la Rosa be racing next year?

Do you have a URL for the report? As I said, coverage here is nil.

Yeah. The Planet-F1 website is a great place for F1 stuff. The page about the FIA report is here http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_2728560,00.html

Once you get into section 3 you see what I meant earlier.
