If people here think they are not free to say whatever they want, then this will kill artistic expressions here on C9. It will make people run away from C9 and to find other more open forums.

Now, suppose there is a person who is a farmer all his/her life, and they never heared of the PC. Suddenly they see one, and they think that it fell from a UFO. So they plug it in and they find C9. This farmer wants to talk about vegetables with people whom he/she thinks are Jupiterians, can S/he not?

While, C9 can say I want you all to only talk about Microsoft stuff, and not Linux or apple stuff. Only MS employees will remain in this site, and then what is the point of having an open forum?

Also, if you want to talk about vegetables, go and talk about vegetables somewhere else. Channel9 is a forum which is predominantly about technology, Microsoft and the world of software. While other conversations are cautiously tolerated, this isn't really the place to hold such in-depth vegetable discussions.

To the farmer, since he thinks the PC fell from a UFO, he/she would think that the UFO owners are from Jupiter.

Meaning that The Jupiterians are way more advanced than the farmer in terms of technology. The farmer would only know how to talk about vegetables which the Jupiterians find uninteresting.

Its something I studied years ago, when I was studying comparative cultures.

So moral of it is really, We should not restrict freedom of speech, and rather should encourage it, for by so doing, we encourage artistic expression.

PS: the farmer, in that parable, gives the Jupiterians a new idea of how to extract energy more efficiently, through the process of inspiration.
