I just found this at channel 10.

"Taking the win for the last thing I expected to see in my Inbox this morning, here is a video of Ice Cube talking about dropping Flash for Silverlight in his UVNTV venture."

I saw the irony in that when I posted it.  I'm glad you saw that too.  If you want to see the original video, here it is:

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. Uvntv is clearly using Silverlight for their videos now.

It's depressingly obvious that he doesn't know what he's talking about and is being paid/sponsored to talk about it.

My guess is that beyond email, facebook and watching movies Ice Cube doesn't really have a massive interest in computers.

The "irony" that is referred to above is that the MSN video that talks about UVNTV using Silverlight itself uses Flash.  I don't see Microsoft converting its "mainstream" sites to Silverlight until Silverlight 1.1 is released (where "mainstream" means stuff like MSN, not Channel 9 and MSDN), and even then, very gradually.  And I don't think there will be a directive from on high saying, "you must use Silverlight", rather, I think the Silverlight team will have to sell itself to the various Microsoft media divisions (msn.com, xbox.com, msnbc.com, microsoft.com, etc).  Which is good, since it'll give the Silverlight team that much more incentive to kick butt.

Even the great ms can't convert everything in a day. Nor would that make much business sense.  I suspect new stuff will use SL, and existing stuff will be migrated as resources permit.
Cube is da Man.

Him and Dre are the only 2 respectable former NWA memebrs, with Cube being the more talented of the 2.

Don't front on Cube Mad

North-west Airlines?

Anyway, how does this improve his credibility when he states that Silverlight is better than flash? I'm not disputing that he's right, only that him asserting it doesn't help the argument a whole lot.

Yeah! How come nigger gets through when (I need to watch my language) doesn't? (or didn't, I'm going to look a fool if it does now.)

[edit... oh good, it didn't, that was q-u-e-e-r in case you wanted to know.]

Nigger here is used in a technical sense. NWA stands for (I need to watch my language)z With Attitude, which is the name of the band, like it or not.

Edit: Oh, the irony.
i am aware of the band, its members and its name - and it's not the hate ridden word used above but (I need to watch my language)z

edit:  ni g g a z

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N.W.A.

use (I need to watch my language)z all you want

* ha - it removes the slang word - but keeps the real word

I'm not sure I would agree Silverlight is better, except for the WPF integration.

There is nothing ruling out Adobe introducing a simular feature set in Flash 10.

Anyway it seams UVNTV are just using Silverlight for video. Flash player 9 handles video and audio just as well now that it supports H.264 and AAC (with the latest update).

Pffft. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AmeriKKKa's_Most_Wanted

Now NWA, no Ice Cube, and NWA is deserving for so many reasons.
They created a genre.

There was a lot of garbage getting released on at that time, but NWA was not in that group.

They are remembered because they made great music, videos, and if you actually listened to the lyrics, it usually said more than what you thought it did at first glance.

After all, WTF does goo-goo-ga-choo mean?
ScanIAm wrote:

The song also contains the unusual exclamation goo goo g'joob. Various unsatisfactory hypotheses exist regarding the origin and meaning of these syllables. One popular, yet impossible, claim is that the phrase was derived from the very similar "koo koo ka choo" in Paul Simon's song Mrs. Robinson, written in 1967. However, the film The Graduate, where "Mrs. Robinson" debuted, was not released until December 1967, a month after the release of "I Am the Walrus", and The Graduate Original Soundtrack (which contained only fragments of the final version of "Mrs. Robinson") was not released until January 1968.

Perhaps due to the close chronological timing of the release of the two songs, the "Walrus" chorus is often misquoted as "Mrs. Robinson"'s "koo koo ka choo", although the lyrics to "Walrus" were published as part of the Magical Mystery Tour EP packaging, so there is no debate to the actual lyric.

It has also been noted that James Joyce's Finnegans Wake contains the words googoo goosth at the top of page *557, where it appears:

...like milk-juggles as if it was the wrake of the hapspurus or old Kong Gander O'Toole of the Mountains or his googoo goosth she seein, sliving off over the sawdust lobby out of the backroom, wan ter, that was everywans in turruns, in his honeymoon trim, holding up his fingerhals...

I fixed that for you.

Your opinion on the matter doesn't match that of a large number of fans.  Not that there is anything wrong with that.  Look, to be fair, I won't call Britney garbage if you'll refrain from disparaging rap.
