It's cool that you guys enjoyed the interview. It was really cool to stay in front of the camera and do the interview for Channel 9. Zeus and Jason are really cool guys!

I know that I don't speak like a native American, but I don't worry about that - as long as everybody understands me and my accent is not as bad as Arnold's. Wink

Even down to the hat. Lol.

It looks like a chef's hat.

That's because the avatar is a caricature based on a real-life photo Smiley. Today, I'm not actually wearing the hat, but I usually do. It's not actually a chef's hat. I can't even remember what it's called. I wear it backwards. It's usually forward-facing and made of tweed. A lot of golfers wear this type of hat.

Bah! Don't listen to them, for they are silly folk. Their mothers are hamsters, and their fathers smell of elderberries.

Also they don't speak italian or german, so who are they to comment on your language?

Watching movies without subtitles might help it Wink
You might soon talk just like the actors without noticing it.

Keep it easy Smiley I think it's always fun (or weird) if you hear speak somebody from a foreign country in your own language... I have heard a lot Germans speak Italian and it was also funny because they didn't know how to pronounce, mixed plural with singular etc.

One problem is that you learn the foreing language from people who are not native speakers - at least it was that way with my English. I had only 5 years English in total, where the first year was a complete mess - we learned nothing - and afterwards we had only teachers who weren't native speakers. They tried their best, but you never can compete with a natvie speaker. It was the last 5 years before university. It was way to late to learn the language. After my highschool I was very bad in English. I could only speak short sentences and didn't have a good vocabulary. What made me learn English was watching "Friends". It sounds weird but I watched all episodes (while being at university - the first year) and that was when I REALLY learned English and built my vocabulary. But it was way to late to get rid of the accent, which is sad.

It was different with German and Italian. Both were native speakers and we learned that also very early.

I picked a lot up by watching movies and "Friends". Without subtitles - that's true. When you have subtitles you tend to only read them and not to think. I remember the first season of "Friends". Watching and understanding the first few episodes was so hard. Incredible! If I watch stuff now I prefer the English version and it is so easy to follow and understand.

Islandic people tend to speak a better English. I think your language is "nearer" to English.

All TechEd was fun. More niners should attend next year! It was really so cool!

Imagine the scene: Charles comes to me and tells me that he told Jason that I'm also at TechEd. He tells me that Jason was like saying: W-HAAT guru is here! We go to the Ask The Experts corner and Jason sees us coming and he is like: "LIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTLEGURU! NICE TO MEET YOU!!!! how are you doing dude! It's so cool to meet you! FINALLY!!!"

Big Smile

I always found the biggest problem is that nobody really knows how to teach a language. With maths and law and physics it's easy. You teach it from ground up, but with language no-one knows where "ground" is, which means that you (in my experience) start out utterly confused, and it takes about two years for the confusion to die down, and then after about four or five years, it just "clicks" in your head, and you become fluent overnight.

All I know is that I have to go to London sometime just so I can say "LONDON, BABY!" and it mean at least once Tongue Out.

Next time I'm in New York, I'm gonna pay a japanese person to stand in Times Square with their arms in a big V, look up into the air and cry "Hallo New Yourku!" like from in Heroes.

Blowdart has already appeared on C9 (October 2006). He's a bit late to the party and not sure when he first shows up but if you click at 50 minutes in you can see/hear him
