Anyone got a wishlist?

I had one, but it just got emptied Wink but I just thought I'd check and see if anyone else has one and actually keeps it up to date.

One of my friends had all the adobe books in his wishlist bought for him (by Adobe) and shipped - which is pretty cool.

In order to prevent bankruptcy at the hands on 'one-click ordering' at Amazon, I now tend to put things into my wishlist (now 2 pages long).

I don't know what the contents say about me ...

But if any major software companies want to buy me a load of books, I promise not to complain.

No, I don't.

I generally keep a running list in OneNote and when I want a book, I just request it through interlibrary loan.

Free books FTW! Big Smile

aim stupidly high, expect to fail often.
I have one too... But no-one ever looks at it, despite all the "what do you want for birthday/christmas" "well, you could look at my wishlist" conversations.

Herbie, perhaps you'd be interested in "Happy Hour is 9 to 5" as well.

This is fun - looking through other people's wish lists and thinking "got, not got, got, got, not got, ..."

Thanks for the 'Happy Hour ..' recommendation, I'll look into it Smiley

PS: Code Complete is into 2nd Edition now ...

Aww.. Now I have to update my wishlist. (Shows how long ago I added that.)

The author's got a blog, I think the address is www.positivesharing.com

It finds lightbulbs.
I used to have one. Until a bunch of items in it had been deleted from Amazon's database and just showed up as "Unavailable". Since I had no idea what they were anymore, and no way of finding out,  I just started keeping the list in OneNote. At least that doesn't get deleted suddenly.

By the way, definitely get Code Complete 2nd edition. The chapters on classes and ADT's are fantastic.

My most sincere apologies for the thread necromancy, but I remembered that some kind soul was doing the rounds and buying useful stuff on people's Amazon wishlists.

Well here's mine... uh... for future reference in case I ever forget.... yeah Smiley

Ugh. Take "Hackers" off your wishlist. That movie's just cringe-inducing.

Sure, watch it for the nostalgia of the early 1990s when people thought RISC was the future and "3D" games were all the rage, but it's largely an embrassement; Loyd Blankenship would be turning in his grave... if he was dead.

Although I do have an Amazon Wish List (3 or 4 pages long), the real first item on my "wish list" is for about 3 or 4 years of free time to sit down and pore over all the books that I already own and have never had the time to read.  Sad

I hear ya. I cancelled my library subscription because I figured I have more than enough stuff to read in my own home already. No sense in paying to lend more books if I don't even have time to read the ones I own.
I'm up to 5 pages on mine not quite sure how accurate to current wishes it is or how accurate to things I haven't purchased.  Do to work I have spent a large amount of time sitting in airports/airplanes and have devoured a lot of books.  Really into Roman History right now.  Anything by Anthony Everritt is great along with Adrian Goldsworthy
