Why is the caption missing??
Hey guys and gals ...

I'm off to sunny Spain tomorrow for some well needed Rest&Relaxation ... and I am leaving my trusted Dell laptop at home this time Smiley

It will be strange not being in touch with the outside world, but good at the same time ...

How would U feel if you would be cut off (so to speak) for a period of time ... would you go insane ?

All empty inside. This happens just after just a few hours of being both internet free and cut off from my friends in real life.

The holiday would be fine. It would be returning home to find 10 days worth of email and RSS feed updates that would be the pain.

Just remember by day three when you start going through withdrawl symptoms that those voices in your head is not your computer sending email directly to your brain and you won't get a free plasma TV just by visiting some random site.

It seems pretty hard to be completely cut off... cell phones with web and email access, any internet connection and you can check your email. I think it wouldn't be being cut off that would get to me... it'd be that backlog of e-mail, rss, news, etc that I'd try to catch up on afterwards. Kinda like getting a pile of newspapers and a bundle of snail mail after a trip only in digital format.
take some 9 guy spain pics Smiley

If Blackberrys are addictive cellphones, Channel9 is the ultimate addictive website.

Yeah, that's what makes me shiver! Tongue Out

The thought of going to Australia for 3 weeks (next year, sure, but I must be prepared Tongue Out) makes me want to take my PC with me... or get a sub-notebook Smiley (Probably a Tosh, any suggestions?)

Throw away all the news you haven't read. It's not important. If it was important, people will still be talking about it when you get back.

Which should only leave you with your e-mails. Most of those aren't important either.

Now, I'll grant you, I don't get many, so the 4 genuine emails I had waiting after two weeks away wasn't a problem. But if my wife could deal with a two week backlog (at around 50 or so a day depending on whether higher education funding is in the news), then anyone can. I had a look at her inbox while she was working from home a couple of days after we got back... 2000 unread e-mails! Yikes! That's probably more than I've received in my entire 4-year "career".
