Hey Niners. I'd appreciate if you took a minute to help determine if this is a Vista Windows Photo Gallery or driver problem that manifests in Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Assuming your desktop resolution is 1280x1024 or higher (please mention), press print screen key while text is visible.

2. open mspaint, paste screenshot of full desktop, save to .png or .bmp (should not matter)

3. Open saved file in Windows Photo Gallery, press the button in the middle to run full screen slideshow, try changing Theme from Fade to Classic which should remove any smoothing filters if it's blurry.

Is the text on desktop blurry/stretched? Some sites claim that Windows Experience Index should be 5 or better for images to show in 1:1/native resolution but mine is higher and this is not the case. It looks as if WPG internally uses 1024x768 or other lower resolution and then trashes the images by scaling.

(Broken on Vista 32 bit sp1 rtm, 8800(174.74)/1 GB/4 GB)

Imagine my disappointment when I took some amazingly beautiful screenshots from a modded Oblivion that actually uses the 1 GB of video memory only to end up Windows Photo Gallery totally trashing all the fine details artists spent time crafting on everything! I would post some here but you couldn't possibly begin to appreciate them until this bug is fixed. Big Smile

My name has 9 letters. Coincidence? I think not...

I'm seeing this with Fade but not with Classic, that uses the full resolution.

I wish I could test what Windows Live Photo Gallery does only it crashes if I start a slideshow (I only discovered that now because I never use that feature).

WOOH! WOOH!
There's a slight stretching going on. But I don't think it's 1024x768 internal buffer to my original 1280x1024 resolution.

200% magnification, Firefox willing...

After reinstalling WLPG the crashing is solved. It behaves the same though as WPG: there is stretching with Fade, no stretching with Classic.
