Hi there,

I'm new here so I thought I'd say hello.

I'm Emyr, I live in the UK and I work for a software company, I'm not a developer in said company (yet - but I'm working on it).

Spend most of my time trying to figure things out in C# and taking on small coding projects that the developers here don't have the time to write...

Other than that....not much to say really....

So what job do you do at the software company? Tester? Support?

I'm a configuration technician.

Our software is so configurable, that each customer has it set up in the way it suits them. So I've got plenty of work to do Smiley

But I've applied for a reporting job in the development lab, it's writing SQL reports, but it's a way in to development, and my SQL knowledge will become awesome...

Just gotta make sure my C# moves at the same speed. Did Java for 6 years, and then went in a completly different direction, almost became a priest but got turned down at the final hurdle, and if I'm honest, it's the best thing that could have happened. So I now focus on my programming Smiley

Being in Java for 6 years, how are you finding the transition to C# then? Big Smile

As for coming over to C#...

It's a lot like Java, I keep doing java like things, which is kinda annoying, but at least I don't have to write GUI's from scratch using damn layout managers..... Wink

so far I've written an XML Phone Book editor for one the guys at work, because he uses his computer to dial out over the VOIP phones, and now been given some more mini projects to do, so that's going to be fun Smiley
