Yuck, that sucks. If you install the latest Firebug beta you won't see the crashes anymore either. It's a little buggy still, but very usable (and won't make FF crash).

I'm seeing the error on image and url inserting editor buttons too. We'll look into that.

Soooooo, the comment list is the last thing that is doing a client load every time. Last night I finished up a big change that fixes it so it server loads the first time and uses ajax for paging after that. Also, this takes away the dependency on javascript for post lists (there are still js dependencies elsewhere in the site, but we'll get to those later). I believe we'll ship this later today unless we find any big bugs I may have created. So that "problem" should be fixed.

As for not having a "last" link, sure, definitely something needed there. I've discussed what we'll be implementing for that elsewhere (can explain again if you like). That will also come very soon (on the hi pri list). As to whether or not we should've shipped without it, that's personal opinion and we stand by ours. :)

So completely disabled Firebug (PAIN!) and C9 works and no crashes. Seems turning it off wasn't enough.

On another note the URL and Image buttons don't work for me any more :(

Initially when the new c9 came out I thought it looked great and while there were minor issues I didn't have much of a problem. After using the new forums for the last couple of weeks I am slowly losing interest. In the previous version I could flip over, run through new threads and be done in a very short amount of time. Now when you click on a thread you wait a few seconds, load ->orb, finally loaded, then click on the last page. So in summary, IMO the UX sucks. There are now extra steps and time to view every thread.

I really thought Minh was overreacting about the release but out of respect for long time users this should have been done in a beta and not released to the live c9 until it was user ready.

I had this problem too ... fixed by upgrading to FF3, all my important add-ons worked properly, and now I'm a happy camper :)

Firebug is turned off already. Will try fully disabling and see what happens, then start paring down. Very strange!

most of our ajax calls work fine anonymously and the ones that require authentication just throw an exception if you're not logged in and call it. all should be handled fine. i don't remember who all i've asked about the crashing (I think only 3 or so of you have mentioned it). are you running any plugins? if firebug, disable it. if others, disable them (to see what's causing the crashes).

This crashing firefox is really getting on my * now.

As is the live id logging out every 24 hours. I can't help wondering if they're connected; the ajax stuff trying to hit a service but not being authenticated somewhere.

Sampy's been working on it and I honestly don't know the current status. I *think* he got go them all fixed, but I don't know. I missed today's standup meeting. Had a meeting with some MSR folks about using the WL Translation services on our sites. Is that transparent enough for you? :P

Glad it's fixed for you, but I'm not sure we can take credit for it. I don't believe we changed anything regarding your problems. Maybe your firewall was acting up and now it's not?

I came in to work today and launched C9 and noticed all of the problems I was having at work through the firewall have all been fixed. All of the images and buttons are now loading as they should.

Oh, yeah. I reported this one already for Channel 8 and was never fixed... I hope that Channel 9 will change that and this one gets finally addressed because it sucks.

Firewall might be a good guess, but I would think those images would be cached after a while and it wouldn't need to request them again. hhhmmm...
