After 20 odd hours of travelling and sitting around in airports, I am finally in Redmond. Can't wait to start work.

Can anybody from the area or that has visited recommend things to do as I have a day or two to kill before I actually start.

Kevin

P.S. US Immigration are (understandably) incredibly unfriendly and airport security even on domestic flights is a lot stricter than I am used to in Ireland and the UK.

So what are you working on in Redmond?

Welcome to Redmond!  Enjoy the good weather while it lasts (which won't be long). Wink

Take the bus downtown, see the fish market, first Starbucks, space needle and the futuristic public library.

My Grandfather became an American in Seattle after traveling from just outside Carrick-on-Suir, it took him over a month to get there.
Get the City Pass and see everything included in it.  City pass is a great way to save money on going to the different sites.  Go downtown to the Fish Market, its free to hang out and see everything, skip the "first" Starbucks, it isn't really the first start bucks.  Go to the space needle, go out to wine country and visit some winerys.

My wife and I love Seattle and at one time I almost took a job out there.

Nice.

ps. I don't think it's undrestandable at all, but you went to US the wrong way. You must take the boat to Mexico and then walk to US from there. The US borders are wide open! But yet, if you want to fly they put a cam up your wazoo. Learn the constitution ( Yes, that piece of paper ) and you will see it's a police state, don't deny it.
