GTalk or Live?

Gtalk > Live. It has a lower memory footprint, it is cleaner looking, it is more simple.

The file transfers always go through at full speed, voip quality is much better and more simple than Windows Live, no calibration.

VOIP is definately better. I had a VOIP call earlier tonight on both - initially on Messenger and it was quite bad so I phoned her on GT instead. Much better quality. I don't really use file transfer, so I've not noticed.

Yeah, but still, it's only because hardly anyone even uses ICQ anymore. If ICQ was the dominant IM, posting that number on a site like C9 would unleash an avalanche of spam messages on my ICQ account.

Yes. But it's not compatible with my Curve. Either that or O2 just hasn't approved it yet - which I doubt because they pitch my phone as being very hip'n'connected...

I can exchange (locally) files with friends at 8-10MiB/s with GTalk, while with the same conditions with Live I get < 1MiB/s (last time I've checked...)
