One. How many time travellers does it take to change a lightbulb?
So after JRE update I get this dialog every time I open IE:

First Apple, now Sun. I'm saddened how multinational corporations treat security currently. WTF does Sun think, I'm not going to run IE in root. Of course I disabled Add-on, but many will just click 'Allow' and complain later about UAC (and insecurity). Malicious. Stupid Sun, grrr Perplexed

I did an update for java today (been bugging me all day to do it), I was thinking about uninstalling it really.. I'm not entirely sure what its role is on my system.. I'm sure its handling applets but .. what applets.. I'm not actively aware of any.. I imagine if I do remove it then within a day I'll be prompted to install it again because some website wants to draw an animated donkey on my screen to sell me a car..

But yes.. sun I don't like.. what do they even do now.. oh right java.. who even uses java? .. gah thats right.. car sales men with animated donkeys..
I haven't had Java installed for a few years now, and I haven't noticed that I'm missing out on anything important. There have been a few useful old applets that I've run across, but that's what virtual machines are for.

What does Sun do? Well, apparently not much. Ouch.

The only Java applet I've run into in a while is the animated map on weather.gov...  unfortunately, I can't get rid of Java altogether because my text editor of choice happens to be a Java application (I'm a JEdit fan).

The only reason I have it these days is just about every network switch or IP KVM has it web management interface writen in it.
