If Blackberrys are addictive cellphones, Channel9 is the ultimate addictive website.
Okay, no laughing, but I have trouble proving my age sometimes. I even get asked for proof of age when purchasing (12) media, so you can imagine how buying (15) stuff is going to be when I'm actually old enough in October.

So, I'm looking to get identification of some sort. A last resort is Fake ID, which isn't too immoral considering nothing on it would actually be fake Tongue Out The problem is, a) I don't want to go with the Home Office's solution and b) You've got to be 16 to have ID from there anyways.

So, I've no idea where to turn to get ID now. I could just carry my passport around with me, but then again losing it would be quite a big problem considering their price seems to get higher and higher. It's a pity that society has become a place where you need to be asked your age at every turn... but alas, this is a hurdle I need to jump (keeping in theme with the olympics Tongue Out).

Any ideas? I'd like to be able to go and see movies without having to phone home or bring my passport...

edit: it has to be available in the United Kingdom!

It finds lightbulbs.

I'd just use the passport and no lose it...

Getting a fake ID sounds like the best way to get yourself banned from pretty much everything.

State ID cards by the DMV

I've had parents in my family (mine, others) visiting from out of country get this. Comes in handy for insurance purposes and other places.

I don't know your state, but you can checkout the requirements. Its also useful if you aren't old enough to get a drivers license (I think your case).

Let us know if this works for you. Might come in handy for other people too. The card looks just like a drivers license, except it's just a state issued ID. Doubt anyone will have problems with it Smiley

If you're not old enough for a passport, howcome your avatar has a goatee?

Just kidding!

Maybe you should glue one of those on, then maybe they would let you buy the cigarettes Wink

Still kidding!

Or just stand outside the shop and pay a bum a pound to buy them for you!

Ok, I have no intention of replying seriously,...

Okay maybe I am;

You need to prove that you are trustworthy enough to own a passport. So don't sneak out of the house, do your chores, do your homework, respect the curfew and be nice to your sister.

Earn the trust. Get the passport, then buy them cigarettes!

Ahhh yes I see,...

Well, they are pretty expensive and important. If you lose a passport in Holland you have to go to the police and get a report saying you lost it. You then get to pay a fine and pay a new passport.

We also have the rules that you need to be 16 to buy stuff, and that some movies are rated 18+. But no one seems to enforce it. Why don't you come live over here?

If you do go the path of getting fake id. be sure to use your C9 avatar image. you look 21 in it. =)

Does your school issue ID cards to its students? If so, then I am fairly sure these are recognised as valid forms of identification.
In Hong Kong, we're given juvenile ID card at age of 11, to be replaced for an adult one at age of 18.

It pretty much surprise me that people in UK don't, as I thought most of the government policies before 1997 are copied from UK.

Under the age of 16 you cannot enter into legal contracts; so it kind of makes sense you cannot get ID either.

Maddus, are you inviting a school boy to come to your country to live with you? Will he be getting lots of candy and toys? Wink

But if the legal age for certain things, like Lloyd described, is 15, how is one going to prove it when you can't get an ID until 16?

Ah but until you're 16 you cannot self certify yourself; you are the responsibility of your parents; full stop.

Ah, right. I guess that makes sense.

Sorry Lloyd. Still, less than two years to go. Tongue Out

Or wait 'till your 16 and get a provisional moped licence. Or just for cheek you could try using your birth cert (but as it's non-photo it probably wouldn't work). Note that only the smaller of the two pieces of paper you (should) have is replacable.

This looks like it might be your best bet.  It's 10 quid, you can get one under 16 with your parents' permission, and, since it's PASS accredited, it should be accepted pretty much everywhere (and if it isn't, they say they will investigate it if you let them know).

Of course, I'm not exactly an expert on the subject...  if I needed proof of age before I were 16 over here, pretty much every state DMV will give you a valid photo ID by request at any age.

Not only expensive, but because passports are so useful as ID, they make great presents to ID-fraudsters if someone gets one. It'll be a real drag having to explain for the hundredth time about how you lost your passport when you were 15 to the bank clerk staring you down when you want to get a loan for a car/holiday/whatever for your 40th wedding anniversary.
