I am no fan of online gambling but I find this story disturbing about a state attempting to take control of domain names (although the article says they have control then that the motion is scheduled for Friday afternoon?):
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/09/26/gambling_domain_seizure/

According to the article the sites "stand accused of illegally making their services available to Kentucky citizens"

Could set some dangerous precidents?
I think that someone somewhere is trying to make an easy score in public opinion.
Being a mildly avid micro-limit (think dimes and quarters, an hour a day max) poker player the issue is known to me. There are so many angles to this but the most disturbing, as to setting precedents, is that while pretending to protect minors from online gambling, state lotteries and horse betting are exempt with nothing in place to keep minors from gambling and adults from getting addicted on the online sites for it. Anyone, of any age can put any amount of money on horses or buy lottery tickets online. If we compare how much online gambling sites have contributed to politicians campaigns (none - zero - $0) and what the horse gamblng industry did in the respect (think tens of thousands).
So it's shady business and the fall-out may reach other sites.
