Wonder if it's too big for the Panama Canal, which I think is being widened...
It's almost as big as Paul Allen's yacht.

Huh... it's an amazing technical achievement, but given our current economic situ (on both sides of the pond), it seems extravagance to the extreme.

In the UK, you are currently seen as the number one enemy of society if you drive a car with over 2 litre engine (61 cu.in for you lot Tongue Out)... imagine the consumption of this floating city!

Interestingly, here in the US, cubic inches are generally used when talking about non-production engines such as classic cars, racing, etc. Metric is used to indicate the displacement the engines of most production cars, with some companies using them interchangably.

I've never understood the fascination of cruise ships. What do they offer, great food, clubs, activities, and lots of people? You could get the same effect by going to Vegas. Maybe you get shore excursions by going in cattle cars to gawk at the locals, meh.

I generally prefer smaller charters (~20 passengers), with little or no shore time and lots of diving.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. Thanks for the link to that article though; Paul has some cool stuff.

But you are young, and like Loud music, not karaoke or moderately to badly sung Frank Sinatra covers.

You talk about computers all day, drink too much, and couldn't appreciate a good bottle of burgundy if you had 12 bottles free. The wife has just had a mastectomy so diving is a no-no. I'm on Viagra so swimming trunks on the beach are problematical.

Not a personal attack (kettch), merely outlining the clichéd clientèle of said cruise ships. Big Smile

Lovely engineering though!
I know plenty of young people who have been on cruises, and all they talk about are things that they could have done at any other major city in the world, and they don't even get off the ship.

Either way, it's more fun for all involved when drinks are included in the charter Big Smile
