... at long last... for free Smiley

I'm kind of surprised to not see this talked about much here be it a month ago when it was announced or now that it's official.

As hinted at in a C9 video long ago, Hyper-V can now be had as a standalone bare metal hypervisor. Instead of running it with/on a full Windows Server 2008 box, it can be run on a stripped down version of Windows that uses the same Windows Server driver model, can be domain joined and then administered remotely.

Shame I'm in training this week otherwise I'd be setting this bad boy up in my office right now

Now if only they'd tweak things so that it doesn't need to be domain joined to be easily administratable remotely... then I'd be using it at home as well.

While 32GB memory may seems a lot today, I think we'll soon hit the limit.

Seriously, why limit it to 32GB on a system with 64-bit processor on a host OS that'll solely be used to host guest OSs? That makes the choice less attractive when compare with ESXi Server 3.5 (up to 32 logical CPUs, 256GB physical memory) which is also free.
