Live Space, why it sucks? | The Coffeehouse

I am using Live Space, it is fine for me, but barely anyone use it. Why is that? How come MS didn't do anything about it.

Only thing I dont like about Live Space are the banners, but hey it's free!

I think Live Space is way to technical, if you look at other profile sites it's much easyer to get started.

I'm pretty sure the main reason for that is that, apart from Microsoft and some people on their forums, nobody even knows what Live Spaces is.

They have high usage in Europe and especially Asia.

My wife uses it to share photos and news with family about our son. Good, not great seems to be the consenses.

Not according to this chart from last april. Looks like South America has the highest Spaces usage per month... putting Spaces at exactly 1 million hours more than the number two social networking site in Africa, the continent where the popularity of social networking is, of course, huge.

Most market share results I can find put Spaces at 0.2%. I guess it depends on your definition of 'high', of course.

That said, I've never even heard of most of the sites on that chart. Bebo, Skyblog, Hi5, Cyworld, Orkut, GaiaOnline and Mixi? Kind of depressing that even most of those usually have a higher market share than Spaces.

That is the most surprising revelation I have come across this week Dovella!

I hate the adverts. I think the live blog thing would be so much more popular were it not for the adverts. why someone chooses live with the adverts over wordpress or blogger is all but a mystery to me?

Live mesh should make live spaces obsolescent anyway (and it won't have adverts)

Well,.. Live has way way more features, so I don't mind. Money has to come from somewhere.

But I agree, writing a blog with such a big banner overhead is a bit tacky.

Maybe they should give you the option to rent the Space and make money from the adverts,...
