Or why is Flash still preferd by MS? Today MS started a new viedeo portal in Germany http://movies.msn.de/ and guess what, they using Flash as streaming client. So why don't use the opportunity to bring SL on more machines?
Do I miss something?

Forget the Flash sillyness, is Microsoft providing free movies over the internet? My German is really bad, so I could have misunderstood some of the content and some of the content can be streamed only from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, but if this is true, this is going to be huge.

probably a contractor finishing a project that was spec'ed out a while back..... remember it takes time to switch stuff and you do not put out many jobs with beta software.  that site might hhave been statred a year ago, or six months ago.

Silverlight is ready, but Microsoft is basically a whole bunch of tiny little companies, and if the team that made the website has a lot of flash-geeks and no-one knows silverlight, they'll just use flash.

Microsoft is particularly sucky at internal consistency.

We're doing lots of internal Silverlight stuff for Microsoft now too. It's coming. It's a big company, not going to all happen at once Smiley

Why shouldn't they use what 99% of the web already has installed?

Their goal is to get people to use this service not push SL onto users machines. By using Flash their service is available to 99% of web users out of the gate. This is in no way a reflection on SLs availability or "readiness". MS will find other ways to push SL onto machines but this is not one of them.
Few reasons, MSN Video using Flash before Silverlight existence. And Silverlight haven't have much user base yet.
