including comments like:

The "news, things that matter" part of this isn't that Obama is using a Zune, but that a Zune has actually been seen being used by someone.

Yeah, I thought that joke was funny too, when I first heard it two years ago.
Two years ago, it was kind of funny. These days I've seen plenty of people with them and you can't even buy them over here.

The Zune basically pwns the iPod Classic. That's nice, but the iPod Classic is called Classic for a reason. But without Microsoft having anything like iPod Touch Zune is not going to go anywhere. Microsoft always seems to be two steps behind everyone else.

But anyway I'd probably have a Zune if libmtp supported it, which it doesn't. I don't understand the whole rational of forcing people to use a certain software to sync a device. It's stupid.

Bass,

Competing against iPod Touch and iPhone is where future versions of Windows Mobile come in. Those are PDAs/SmartPhones, not media players.

Yeah we will see in 2010/2011/2013 or whenever Windows Mobile 7 will come out. Apple is not going to sit on their laurels until then either.

Meanwhile Apple is slowly ripping apart any market share WM had, and Android and Symbiain are seriously threatening the Microsoft's fundemental business model with Windows Mobile by offering royality-free operating systems (which threatens the already very meager ~$3 royalty Microsoft is getting from their embedded software).

Good luck.

I know that the Windows Mobile team is doing some coordination with the Zune team on future releases, but I'm wondering what type of cross-branding we'll see.
Whatever it is, chances are it will be too little and way too late.

I for myself like the Zune a lot. My brother - he's doing a lot with music (playing and singing) - even switched from the iPod to the Zune because he says that the sound quality is way better on the Zune.

Regardless of the whole Zune will pwn iPod/iPod will pwn Zune thing... I can't believe the fact that Obama has been seen with a Zune instead of an iPod is so shocking. WE ARE NOT IN HIGH SCHOOL HERE, PEOPLE. STOP ACTING LIKE RETARDS.

I mean, man.. I just want to *-slap the entire world when I read about "ZuneGate".

You will never know success until you know failure
I actually like my Zune more than the iPod.  I recently got an iPod touch and aside from massive reboots, the thing locking up when Im running and the refusal to sync music on my Mac its a nice paperweight.  I need to take it back to Apple.  But Im frustrated with the Apple Store because this will make the 2nd time I returned the damn thing to Apple.

Other cool tech is my Blackberry Storm that I LOVE.

If the Zune worked with Songbird or Linux I woulnt need my Windows machine

What an amazing comeback! Maybe you should have used the word 'n00bish', though.

Anyway, that remark wasn't even directed to you. It was directed to the people who care that Obama has a certain type of hardware. But I understand if the difference is above your level of comprehension and you felt personally attacked.

like anyone gives a sh/t about posters who reply just to say they've heard it before!

You appear to have gotten worked up over it enough to mention it again. Smiley
