How is one meant to plug themselves then?

By linking directly to his or her blog. dpratt71 linked to 'dzone' ; digg for developers.

How is one meant to plug themselves? Shamefully, of course. Smiley

Seriously, though, if you've written a blog post and want to bring it over here, summarize the main points in the forum message and let a conversation develop here. That's what forums are for - we aren't digg. If you just want to drive traffic to your blog, people are going to get annoyed.

If you read the blog post that you bookmarked you can see that there are some issues that need to be fixed.

we could discuss this at length, considering we (the C9 team) are the ones who built it ... suffice it say, we made some architectural mistakes that are not inline with the current best practices around MVC... but some of those issues have been fixed, progress has been made on others and we will do more work in the new year. In the meantime, it is a pretty sweet blog engine compared to everything I've run before.

I like Oxite, because it's open source and actually exists, unlike those other "superior" ASP.NET MVC-based blogging engines that only exist in the imaginations of those people who like to criticize Oxite and call it all sorts of names.  Good job, guys.

???
it's funny I don't know how many times I have looked at code I did and wish I could go back and do it over.
when it's an internal app that works no one ever sees the ugly parts... but you know them.
but when you publish stuff... then all kinds of things get seen....
but then how many of the critics will sit down and help fix it??? not many most of the time.

Don't take the critique to personal. I think Oxite is a nice start and you guys are improving it - I'm sure. Smiley

Thanks folks, appreciate the positive comments. We aren't stopping work on it, so I'm sure you'll see more things about it in the future.

It finds lightbulbs.

So are you guys considering using a future version of Oxite to replace evnet?

Not really... we'd like to use the new MVC features for EvNet because of the better control it gives us over markup, but there is a huge difference in features between Oxite and EvNet, and I don't know if we'd want to spend the time to reimplement things that are already done. As we use it on smaller sites, like visitmix.com, we might slowly add enough features to Oxite to make it closer to what we would need for C9...
