things go on as always

Moving up in Folder hierarchy
Unlike in beta, the parent folder's button will appear in the address bar at all times and therefore going ‘up' will always be a single click away in a predictable location in RC.

It's the next best thing to the button, but how did Vista made it out the door w/out a way to immediately go up a level easily is incomprehensible.... especially all the UXP people they marched out for Vista...

OK... I will forgive and forget... eventually...

It finds lightbulbs.
It's actually better than the up button, since it also tells you where you are.

And generally always is there in vista anyway.. they just made sure it always is in 7.. sooo not an issue

Yeah... I supposed... It's very close to it for sure... I think the the up folder has a slight advantage in that a constant image is easier to identify than a text button that's always different.  But having it is much better than not.

if you use a shell extension addon like qttabbar(makes defaulty explorer a joke in terms of features and customability, and in turn sh/ty explorers design in vista & 7 makes qttabbar look like sh/t while it has be squeezed on the only available and customizable toolbar(the file menu)) you'd know that dbl clicking on any available empty (white space) area (should also ignore read only columns) within the explorer view could take you back up a directory... far more workflow effecient than ever having to deal that pathetically non customizable shitcrumb bar feature.

Actually I did them a sh/t load of flak on the stupid design of how explorers details view treats entire filename rows as clickable(thats ok for certain apps, not an explorer!!!...(heck even the crap reg tweak to restict it to entire Name column interaction is stupid, whatever happened to just filename length interaction!) anyway it completly destorys a far more useful feature ... the whole filename row hiliting and just about anything related to it, is retarded.

oh well here's to MS nub design.

It's not in Vista, because you could also click on the parent folder name in the address bar. That has the same result. The button just wastes space, even if the other way is not as intuitive. That is, when the address bar is wide enough, of course.

Well... that's the behavior the Win7 feature is fixing isn't it?  That is, the parent folder ISN'T always shown.

The Desktop as a parent folder is never shown, yet you can click on the folders list. Certain File Open dialog stops at an arbitrary path... It's nuts
