Google is evil, worse than PayPal

Amy Hoy and Thomas Fuchs set up a Google Checkout account for sales of their online book, Javascript Performance Rocks, in February. Some of you may recognize them for their Ruby on Rails, Prototype, and script.aculo.us work.

Google closed the account without warning or explanation and fleeced them out of the proceeds for the book in that account a month later.

Do no evil, my ass.

Thanks for the heads up.

I have a friend who has just opened a Google account. I've sent him the link.

From reading the responses, this does appear to be worryingly common. It looks as if Google as some kind of automated system that decides when to close the account, as they don't seem to have any idea why some accounts get closed.

But keeping the money? Jeez ...
