With me it's a full-time job.

I'm seeing some weird DNS errors with this shiny new IE8 browser.

- wired.com , tuaw.com, richarddawkins.net all generate random DNS errors some-of-the-time/all-off-the-time-for-periods. Wired.com even did a weird one on me when it get trying to reload the page over & over. Never rendering any html just status messages on the bottom going crazy until I pressed stop.

The other browser on my machine is Chrome and it never has any problems.

I clutched at a few straws to try and make the problem go away. Flushed DNS cache, deleted all IE cached data, the big reboot. Still no joy.

Was wondering if this is just me and every one else is hunky dory?

same issue.  lots of sites come up with DNS errors Network Error (dns_server_failure)

even internal sites... I can go to command prompt, ping "myhost" and it resolves to the correct ip:
ping myhost

pinging myhost.mydomain.com [10.1.1.18] with 32 bytes of data:
reply from 10.1.1.18...etc.

then i go to IE8 and I get dns_server_failure.
then i go to firefox and it works just fine.
Wow, I thought it was my internet connection. Perhaps I have been experiencing this.

Me, Rob & my C9 Guy hard at work :-)
I too am having serious connection issues, for some reason though Firefox works fine, it's only been happening since I upgraded from IE7 to IE8.

Yeah, I get this on my machine at home once in a while, even when surfing to a site like cnn.com I'll get that "Can't display this page" error page. Refresh, and it's fine.

Is it a bad DNS-driver-thinger in IE8 or something?

I do not remember Windows 7 Beta 1 having this issue, but perhaps it does too. Anyone know?

I am using Win7 Beta. Works perfectly. I guess only the IE8 RTM is bad.

Hmm, cant say that I have and I have been running it since beta 2, rc 1, final and some if it on vista sp1, and sp 2 beta and escrow builds. Not once have I seen this.

Before C# there was darkness...
Before testing for other things, I would run a scan with Malwarebytes first.  There is a common dns malware virus thing that will show this strange behavior.

I think theres a general outage in the uk if that helps, I've been seeing really slow unreliable connections to certain sites both from work and at home.

It finds lightbulbs.
That's what I get a lot too. Random "Can't display this page" messages. Refresh, and it's back to normal.

Getting this in firefox also myself so I'm thinking nothing of it.. plus its only started recently for me (last week), and I've had ie8 for longer..
It's just an effect of the government's digital eaves-dropping.

Nothing to worry about, they'll resolve it soon enough.

If the British governments IT record is anything to go by I don't have much hope for the situation...
