I want my scalps!

Does anyone else think the term LOL is used too much, even though most people using it aren't actually laughing out loud? How many people laugh out loud when they're behind their PC? If I see something very funny, I laugh quietly, somewhat snickering. But never out loud. And who has ever performed "Rolling on the floor, laughing"? That only happens in cartoons, right? How would you do that?

I do sometimes laugh out loud, mainly when I'm watching a comedian or something. I've been on the point of falling out my chair laughing watching Bert Visscher perform live. Smiley

I saw this show live in Kunstmin in Dordrecht, trust me, it's very hard to stay in your seat at this (it helps if you speak Dutch Tongue Out ):

Also, this segment from Mythbusters still makes me literally laugh out loud every time I see it:

falling out of chair nearly rolling on the floor laughing?

Bertje Visser is the bomb!

Oh and Tommy, I have a friend who actually says: lol while he is laughing out loud Smiley

I've been known to laugh out loud. But yeah, the phrases are overused. Still, you know what they mean. LOL if something is funny, ROFL when something is extremely funny. Regardless of what the acronyms mean.

Also: Peterson's Vogelgids is a classic. You're a privileged man to have seen that live, Sven.

I have no idea why, but for some reason, this Mythbusters segment always cracks me up:

Maybe it was the whole buildup to it, and seeing something so cartoony work so well in reality.

Because I'm from Edinburgh, I would like to use 'PML' (p1ssed myself laughing), but I expect I'd have to explain it a lot.

After several beers, and despite worries I may be having a seizure, I do laugh out loud and roll on the floor, sometimes losing my buttocks in the melee. That last part is rather rare...

There are times when I've posted LOL when I'm learning other languages, but that's ever more rare.

I don't think I've used those acronyms thus far, I  do use "borked" or maybe even "something hosed my system". I do find that I have to Google search them 'cause I do not know most of them.

I think that they do convey some hilarity, albeit rather insipid and overblown, but a lot of people are confabulators, and the world would be duller without them.
I've ROFL'ed for real once upon a time, but it required a lot (I mean a lot) of tequila to make happen.

That's not what the roflcopter sounds like! Everybody knows it goes soi soi soi.

It's still a shame that they didn't put that same effect in Vista's speech thing as a joke.

Some people have different tastes than you, but I know you have some difficulty getting your head around that concept. Wink

Sorry to revive the thread, but I thought this was relevant to the original question:
