Good story, Good Cast, Great Spock!

worth seeing even if your not familiar with the other shows etc...
Yep, saw it yesterday .... really enjoyed. Best one since the Wrath of Khan.

Though I'm still not sure why they think the mini skirt is practical for space exploration.

Still, it could have been worse ...

Yes Archer's beagle did have a mishap.

and I liked Nimoy's role in the film.

I did like bones I thought he portrayed him well

Live long and Prosper \\ //,
Well I'd love to say more, but I stupidly revealed the end of Fight Club in a conversation, so I'm a bit wary about chatting too much about a movie until about a month afterwards!

Welcome Change
Agreed. I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one! Smiley
C
great movie, but now thinking of how it changes everything in all the other series. will the next movie go back to the original time line or continue this one. cant wait for the next one.
I loved this movie!  Next Generation fans out there might enjoy the Star Trek Countdown prequel comics [Amazon] that explain how the events that transpired in the new movie came to happen. We should probably change the title of this thread to indicate that there are spoilers, since I've already seen at least a couple.

Yep, looking forward to next weeks episode ..
don't really like it, I think the previous one was better...
I'm waiting for the book. Amazon UK said it would be availble May 8th but US, Germany and France say May 12th. UK now says out of stock. I've ordered it, of course.

Good or not, the success of the movie will probably move the direction of on-screen Star Trek to the early years, which is great because they will leave post-TNG/DS9/Voyager to the books. And, IMvHO, the very best of Star Trek is to be found in the books (although there is some mediocre to to-be-left-alone stuff in there as well), especially where it is free from the bounds of screen Trek.
[so please, TV and movie producers, leave the 25th century to the books]

Eventually I will go and see it, probably on DVD. I'm just hoping the movie will be as good as the book Tongue Out

You put mini-skirts and space exploration in the same sentence and say they don't work well together?

The one begets the other! My hope is this movie will bring mini-skirts back into fashion -- and not on Sulu -- .

What type alien are you Ray??

Saw it on Saturday. It was a fun space action movie, but it didn't really feel like "Star Trek" to me. Definitely worth seeing though.

too much action

too little story

They have lost it

Oh, it was a good movie, no doubt. But just like the James Bond series, they need to go back to the basics (wich they have done in the last James Bond and boy that rocked!).

Can't have too much action, man.  If you want a story go read a book.

nahhhhh,...

got to have some sence of the world they live in.

some sort of adventure!

Not a wild rolocoster ride for 2.5 hours,..

As I said, I'll be doing both. But because the f-ers at Pocket Books decided the North American customers go first, delaying the delivery in Europe by 3 weeks, after initially saying it would be available May 8th (btw they waited until May 12th to say so), I decided to go see the movie first anyway. Of course, Paramount owns Pocket Books. Sigh. Books are my crack and my dealer is most evil.

So it goes.

Yippi skippy

I enjoyed it. "Live long and prosper." Was there just a hint of anger in Spocks voice when he first said that line? Spock seemed to be a little unstable in this movie. showing the conflict between logic and emotions.

And what did ever happen to Capt Archers beagle?

Compiling humans...and code

That's awesome!  I didn't even pick up on that.  Will have to pay better attention to that part next time I see it (tomorrow or Friday hopefully at IMAX this time).

Btw, loved the movie.
