I have a question regarding the movie. When the evil Romulus ship first came threw the blackhole/anomaly it looked like a “storm in space”. Then when Spock came threw the anomaly 25 years later, again it appeared as a storm in space. Those are the two times the anomaly occurred. So my question is. As the enterprise approached Vulcan a briefing given by Chekov said there appeared to be a storm in space but there was no such anomaly that occurred with the drilling of the planet. Was there a 3rd anomaly or is there a plot hole here? Maybe ill have to see it again.

Yeah as i recall he (when first found by kirk and spock prime) seemed to say the dog was "temporarily missing" as if he felt that in time he would recover the dog.

now that may or may not happen, i guess if he mis-calculated and the transport went wrong in the t-Dimension then later at z,y,z,t the dog could rematrialize but that would mean that some how the reciving transporter would need to get a signal and return the dog to the proper form ??

the other possible case based on some prior trek "cannon" is the dog is stuck in a loop-ing pattern buffer...
in TNG there was a "final goodby" to the TOS Mr. Scott where he "saved" himself that way and the TNG crew got him out.

Yes, I think the episode was called 'Relics'?

He'd crash landed on a Dyson Sphere (a theoretical energy harnessing structure built around a star - not some trendy way to clean cat fluff off the sofa) and had transported himself so that he would be stored in the transporter buffer until he could be rescued.

Unfortunately, he wasn't rescued until Picard's Enterprise turned up - seventy years later.

I haven't seen the movie yet (need to convince in-laws to baby-sit for the evening), but I have just listened to Mark Kermode's review from last Friday -- he suggests that they have cleverly 'wiped the slate clean' for all previous Star Trek movies and shows by means of time-travel. Could this be the start of a whole new Star Trek series?

And Deep Space 9, I really disliked those!

The new Star Trek does seem to wipe much of the slate clean. Theoretically they have yet to embark on their 5 year voyage of exploration. I hope that when they revisit this episode they redo the fight scene.
