I'm on my very last life.

I remain unconvinced that a change of editor is responsible.

Clearly, changing some of the client script is not responsible for the improvement in url response, and the ajax request-response cycle is unlikley to be attributed to the client script, unless it was badly broken in the first place.

I suspect that the editor is being made the scapegoat, and that the real fix is the change in hardware.

My name has 9 letters. Coincidence? I think not...

Duncan also said they rewrote part of the data layer, that probably has something to do with it.

It is however undeniable that the change in editor is responsible for the the fact that the editor is actually usable now. Tongue Out

Inch by Inch

Hey there,

Reading the title of this post, made me wonder if we'd hired someone onto the team to help with editorial ("Subject: The New Channel 9 Editor") Big Smile   Nope.  Yes, we've replaced the editor on Channel 9 to be Tiny MCE. It is something we've wanted to be able to do for sometime.

The previous editor was quite heavy and it did slow down page loads, the new editor along with some data layer work and bug fixes should help improve performance and reliability. We also deployed a new SQL server to help handle our continued growth. As I've said before getting the site operating in a much more predictable fashion is a priority for the team and I am happy with progress.

This is all a part of our prep work leading up to as we plan for and get ready to implement the next major update of Channel 9. In our next major update we're working through the data from the surveys, user feedback and log file analysis to make sure we understand how the site is used and how people want to use Channel 9. Through this work we'll build out the information architecture, wireframes and visual design. Alongside this Dan and team are thinking through the content they create and how it all fits together.

We'll update and share more soon via the Channel 9 team blog so we can get feedback.

Thanks!
