Its out on MSDN now for anyone that is interested. Servers seem to be going well, no connection problems or slow transfers like with the Windows 7 Beta and RC builds.

Suppose I should find the release notes somewhere, but does anyone know if the NET framework version includes the merging of XNA-like 3d APIs into WPF that was demoed at PDC2008? Cos that's about the only thing I'm interested in right now.

Is there a more official announcement? or at least some more info, like- side by side with vs08? what about installing the .net 4 beta- I take it that won't screw anything up.

That would be courageous. For a RC maybe, not for a beta.

*downloading* I'll install it as my primary IDE on my private computer. Let's see how that thing rolls.

Can't wait!  Downloading.....

Spinning up a few virtual machines while I wait, really looking forward to see what's new in TFS-2010

Here's hoping for a flood of .Net 4 / 2010 videos!

No, you can install it SxS with Orcas, it won't screw up anything

Installing it right now, really looking forward to giving this a spin. All I need now is to think of another WPF-worthy project to really kick it's tires. Smiley

I'm not sure if that's a good idea, since you're also running Windows 7. That's a scenario known as beta-on-beta and it tends to invalidate bug reports for both products.

A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent.

I have the thing installed, now how do I enable the searching on the property grid?  It was in one of those 10-4 videos, so I know that its there, somewhere.

EDIT: Maybe it only works for WPF.  Even without this feature, this thing is beautiful!  It can only compare to farting under silk sheets.

glad you like it, I'll send your regards to the shell team Smiley

First thoughts on VS2010

Very impressed so far,

Liked the installed process, smooth even with the reboot. Liked the C#/C++ customization option. I don't do C++ anymore, so that was welcome. It also handled the SQL Server / Windows 7 compatability issues well.

Code Editor is very speedy for a beta release. Feels slightly better than the VS2008 experience, liking it so far but only written a few classes in it so not a fair test yet.

The WPF design environment still feels a little clunky and slow to me, but not as bad as VS2008. When I get around to doing some more complicated forms I'll have a better opinion probably.

Architecure Explorer is wonderful, looking forward to seeing what is makes of one of my larger projects.

My biggest cheer of the night was that ASP.NET didn't mangle my control ID's. Big Smile

Anyone else getting one or two manky icons? My comment and uncomment icons on the text editor toolbar look wrong.  I posted as a low priority issue on connect, but was wondering if it was just my drivers or something (NVidia on Vista).  It's just those two icons so far, so I guess it's most likely knackered resources in the build.

Same here, using a virtual machine with XP.

OMG! How blurry is the font that is rendered by the WPF parts of the new Dev 10. Disgusting, seriously. It's like looking at a blur all the time.

I hope this is not the final version of the text rendering. Otherwise I'm seriously forced to watch to blurred text all the time?

I konw that this is a WPF thing and I never liked that in WPF... but c'mon VS is a tool where I spend half of my time in... Something like that is horrible Sad

excuse me - do you has a flavor?

WPF has a tendency to have strangely blurry text.

I guessed that's a feature.

Do you have cleartype enabled on your PC? Because if you don't, WPF uses "standard anti-aliasing" which is very blurry. Cleartype looks crisp I think. I haven't installed the beta yet, but I use Blend on my PC and it looks great in the code view.

The tool tips are nearly unreadable on my laptop!  The text editor seems fine.

I felt to me like wpf rendering looked different on 7 than vista.. but I can't think why it would.
