funny a guy I sometimes see around the office shaved off his beard this week aswel and I swear I spent the better half of the morning wondering who the hell that guy was.. looked really familiar.. tbh I was thinking someone else was doing his job at first :D

You would only see me with a beard if I was stranded on an island though.

Same here. I've had women tell me it's a bad idea, and had women tell me it suits me. The women in the latter category are usually happily married, but still.

You can't win. Might as well wear it whichever way you want.

Mine wasn't too bad to maintain (just use my hair clippers on whatever length i wanted) but it was the itchiness that did in my stint with a goatee. I suspect if I had enough tolerance for itch and grew my beard out it would be quite the Grizzly Adams look.

I happen to have friends where his wife asked him (immediately after he shaved his long time beard) "When are you going to grow it back?" ... and perhaps less of a question and more of a demand... so some like it some don't.

I love beards, like W3bbo, it gets rid of the hassle of shaving. "Birds" will always complain that you are either scratching their face, or make them itch, so off it comes.

This is really a case of personality, and Webbo does not dissapoint. One of those lofty intellectuals, that does not do fashion, not populist fashion anyway.

If I'm single and playing-the-field and there is so much as a sniff that I may get some "beaver" and be down-in-those-knickers, I will shave twice a day, much as I dislike doing it.

Amen to that. I only have a goatee and moustache, but trimming those is still more work than just shaving. I can't grow a full beard like W3bbo here (or even like Bas has as evident from the webcam chat yesterday) because my hair refuses to grow on my entire face evenly and gets horribly tangled even at short to moderate length.

I think you should keep the neckbeard in check, and perhaps go for a less squared off look. Like Dr. Herbie suggested, try an overlong stubble. Or something in a Clint Eastwood perhaps:

Every man should grow a beard at least once in their lives. Congratulations.

Have you tried the stubble look? That might be the correct balance between paedophile and gay you require.

Personally I leave my stubble to grow to the 3 week 'inchy period' before shaving it off and getting refused service in pubs (and I'm 39).
