How am i supposed to code with theeeeeese ?

Does anyone use discountasp.net (EU based servers preferably)?
Is it ok?

I'm searching for a host, ideally UK based who offer full trust without using a dedicated server, so any other suggestions are welcome.

Been using discountasp.net since before they offered UK servers. Now have one UK package and one US one. Everything works, support is good, SQL is overpriced as ever.

And if you use the link on my blog I get a referral fee Smiley

Are you just hosting a low traffic simple website? I believe in "you get what you pay for" discountasp.net seems to good to be true, the servers must be overloaded? I'm with 1and1 and I pay £90 p/m for a dedicated never had a problem! They do shared hosting and VPS too.

My site is hosted on discountasp.net, never had any trouble with it. I particularly like how quickly they support new technology. You never need to wait long if you want to play with the latest version of .Net or SQL Server. Smiley

If I'm not too late to the party, I've got servers in a Manchester datacentre with the usual compliment of features and stuff. Interested? (Yes, I do Full Trust).

Yes they do. But remember you'll have to ask them to give your account access to the private key, if it's a cert in the cert store. That's a seperate step.

Hmm their FTP is direct to the web root, I'd ask them if they can provide space outside of it (or simply map that directory to 404)

If you choose IIS7 inegrated pipeline you can of course block all access to a directory and files within, or simply map the extension to the forbidden handler

Isn't the App_Data folder also protected by default?

Ah yes! Of course it is (you can tell I never use it!)

I thought App_Data was for SQL Express?

App_Data is just a folder in which you put data that users shouldn't be able to download directly via HTTP. Whether that means a Access database, and XML file, or anything else you wish to put there doesn't matter.
